I've been a Sabbath fan all my life. But the first and only time I've seen them was the Heaven and Hell tour with RJD. Tony Iommi moves you in a pretty indescribable way live. It was a bucket list moment for me!
Tony Iommi is very well spoken with a lot of interesting stories.
I would have liked to heard more about his other "SG" guitars but it is a Gibson video.
Love his playing, and those first three albums in particular are influences on me.
as a sheetmetal worker myself, i've had a few close calls with my hands. if i lost the tips of some fingers, i don't know if i would be able to do what he did, and invent finger tips to keep playing
The story that I'd heard was that the guy (his factory boss?) who gave Tony
the Django Reinhardt record while he was so depressed about his accident
knew Django's back story, got Tony the record for that reason, & let him hear
what someone with just a couple of fingers was capable of.
^ that's how I remember Tony telling it elsewhere, could be a false memory of course!
was anyone at the York University football field concert that headlined 3 Dog Night way back in the stone ages ?
If you where, you would of seem Mr. Iommi do what he does best with Sabbath.
he mentions it in the video i posted. also in his book. pretty cool stuff
I watched the video. Lots of interesting stuff. The Tull bit was kinda strange but I’d heard things like that about them.
I am a Tull fan, but when I heard Anderson didn't let the band members sit with him at lunch, my lunch didn't sit well with me. What an asshole.
Big in my early history, too. Black Sabbath Vol IV was the first 8-track I ever bought. And 8-track was the first format that was mine and not part of the family entertainment cartel. And the legend of me bringing home music they all hated began.
i think this is my favorite post in months, because of how much i can relate to the last sentence.
sometimes i think so, but another part of me isn't so sure it's him being an asshole. there could be other reasons for it, like mental illness.
Crazy asshole? ;-)
there are certain personality disorders that can make you that way. or he might actually BE an asshole.
