Yesterday while waiting for the bus I noticed a shitload of bikes pull over at a corner. There were cops there but they didn't seem to be doing anything and I thought, 'How strange'. I saw someone with a t.v. camera set up and then they unloaded a white bike out of the back of a trunk but I didn't think too much about it. I was going to walk over to see what was up but a cop car did it's 4th circuit through the parking lot and they were looking at me so I jumped on the bus that pulled up and left. It wasn't until this morning that I found out what was going on.
Ghost bike memorial held for fallen Calgary rider
Didn't know the guy but I've been on similar runs too many times. Ride Into Paradise Bro. Nect time I'm in the area I'll put a Master Link and a Demon bell on the bike if it's still there. If not there'll be a cross.

Cyclists have been leaving white ghost bikes at the scene of a death for many years. Usually chained to a fence or tree etc.

I didn’t know the significance until recent years. Sobering to see so many in my travels.

My wife saw a rider having a coffee at our local timmies this spring. Thought to herself that it was so early to be out and that motorists aren’t ready to see bikes yet.

Last coffee he’ll ever have. 1km down the road is his memorial.

Drive safe out there everyone. Bike, car, truck..whatever. Be safe

We got a kid here currently plugged into the "big machine", and just buried another one.

    Sudden deaths are always tough.

Was this the same accident with an impaired driver recently? Hits way too close to home for me, he was contracted to do multiple jobs at my girlfriend's workplace.

No, this is the one from a week ago and not the one on Monday at Peigan Trail. RIP to that rider too.
