Ride on Captain America.
Just saw that. 79 years old. Wow. RIP Mr Fonda
He appeared on the WTF podcast a year ago. He struck me as a little nuts. Rambled a lot. Maybe a little too much acid when he was younger. Though often best remembered for cult films like Wild in the Streets and Easy Rider, perhaps his greatest contribution was a 1971 western he directed and starred in with Warren Oates: The Hired Hand. Photographed exquisitely by Vilmos Zsigmond (who also shot McCabe & Mrs. Miller around the same time, and is associated with a long list of classics) you might say it presaged other more existentially-oriented picturesque westerns like Days of Heaven, and Unforgiven.
Didn't like his twitter antics in the end but RIP.
Even though he's probably best known for his movies, Peter was an inspiration for the song "She Said, She Said" on the Beatles "Revolver" album. Here's a website that mentions it:
The Movie Star John Lennon Mocked on the Beatles' 'She Said She Said'
From what's mentioned in that article Peter sounds like he was kind of a creepy person. I'm sure he wasn't like that all the time though. R.I.P. Mr. Fonda.
Met him in Sacramento in 2000 at a bike show. Seemed like a nice guy. Now he's riding with Billy again. RIP.
I don't know if it's the drugs, but a lot of people in the entertainment business tend to get a little nutty after a while.
