Sold my Line 6 HD500 and double financed a Zoom G1x FOUR for casual jams.

Some of the immediate advantages over the HD500:

    • Master Tone / Volume controls for the entire pedal
    • Master Patch Volume does not require a memory slot
    • Very decent rhythm box with 'human' feel
    • Size & weight is minimal
    • Cost
    • Diverse set of bright, useful tuners
    • Less noise (!) when used together with other pedals - also quieter than the G3N
    • Better effects
    • Comparable amp sims
    • Not necessary to add a cabinet when adding an amp
    • Very intuitive on-box programming & software

    Down sides:

    • Limited memory
    • Less processing power
    • Not built to sink the Titanic
    • No parallel paths
    • Presets suck - but this is common
    • Stereo out requires a splitter
    • Expression pedal position not memorized between patches

Have not tried the looper yet.
