I built a Tweed deluxe clone a few years ago and it worked fairly well when I put it away, but it may have had a little water damage since then.

Can anyone recommend a tech near me who would be willing to do a rebuild on it?

I used good trannies and components.

Right now it hums pretty severely so I shut it down right away.

I posted your issue to our FB group and a good amount of local recommendations have come through:

    Thanks man,

I can't see the results. Do I need to have a facebook account to do so?

Yes. No worries... The suggestions so far are: Rang Liebrock in Port Dover, Pete Vee in Brantford, Rich Gowman in Cambridge, and Chris Church in Hamilton.

I think I'll try the Brantford guy (Pete Vee).

As he seems to use Facebook exclusively I'll have to text him and see if he will respond via E-mail.

    Thanks

Ok, I found his Kijiji ad, sent him text asking him to respond via e-mail.

I shouldn't be surprised, but I am, at how profoundly society has embraced facebook as the first and often ONLY line of communication and news.

I hate it, but it is what it is.

    Hopefully he will respond.

    Ok, we're all set.

It turns out I know the guy. Vee is not his full name.

    Thanks again for the help!

I built this one about 2006ish. There's a thread, but all the pics were with photobucket at that time and all are gone.

I know the tech and he's a dependable and studious person I know I can trust. Looking forward to having this spruced up (pined up?).

I should have gut shots somewhere.

Cabinet and 1 x 12 extension cabinet made by Derek Bell, finished by my wife and I.

That's it in the corner with the Darwin fish on the cab.

Hmm, well Photobucket seems to have deleted most of my pics. I must have them somewhere but....

Taking this to the Brantford tech recommended by Mr Beal (thank you) today.

As I recall I used a different speaker in the extension cab, if memory serves, it’s a Patriot Redcoat?

I know I sell tolex and I'm supposed to push it, like a "real" business owner should. But, I so much prefer finished wood cabs over tolex. They just look "right" to me.

I like tolex too, but when I saw the quality of Derek's joinery I thought this one would look nice in plain pine. With the matching extension cabinet it looks a bit like an old Boogie.

You mean an Eminence Patriot? I have one in my 2x12 with an Eminence Wizard... both great speakers

Sounds about right. I think it was an Eminence Patriot but I recall the term Redcoat as well.

I'll have a look tonight. Good sounding 12" as I recall. I'm hoping to plug it in over Christmas, once the tech gets through with the amp.

Oops, got that wrong. Patriot is the series. I have a Redcoat series Wizard and a Redcoat series Governor. The redcoats emulate the British Celestions, not sure what the Patriots emulate except that they emulate American speakers. The Wizard is supposed to be a G12H30 and the Governor is supposed to be a V30. All I know is they sound awesome in my 2x12, much more full sound that my VVRI 2x10's which I beleive are Eminence Legends
