Here's the first Bass tune I've worked out on Bass. Been working on the song and the tones for a month now and really more or less digging deeper into Bass than I've ever done. For equipment I used the new Epi Thunderbird IV, Zoom B2 with Ampeg setting as that is apparently what Geezer used on this record, going through Cakewalk DAW with some compression in the Daw.

I'm fully aware of the bits I mucked up a bit as I don't quite have the Bass hand stamina and speed built up to play efficiently through the entire tune yet. But it's only been a month so all is well. I've also been working on getting a bit better video out with my limited equipment. It's recorded live in 1 take into the Motorola again lol.

Hope you like it and all feedback is welcome.

    Cool tune,

It might just be me but had a hard time hearing you. The background track was drowning you out.

I always tend to boost the bass on everything mind you so it could very well be just my hearing...

Thanks for that. My Bass sound is fairly apparent to me but that might be the 3 way speakers I use. The Bass part was actually quite a bit louder in the mix. Maybe I just nailed the tune and the tone too closely lol...

It was recorded on my cell phone, which is a big no no. I also recorded the take to the DAW so I'll take another listen. This is a process for me as I'm both trying to learn Bass as well as getting into proper recording techniques. I used a bit of Compression in the DAW. I wonder if that might have made a difference. Anyways, thanks much for the input. Much appreciated.

Oh yeah. If you skip ahead to 5:53 of the vid that might give you an idea of where the sound sat in the mix. As long as you don't mind the (mostly) random Improv I threw in. :)

OK, it was me... took a listen this morning on my laptop. The bass was not sufficient for me to hear ( getting old... ) . Just had a listen on my home PC with my stereo plugged in.

    Sounds good !

    That was cool. E♭, eh?!
It took me a while to get my fingers coordinated to play. I'm still working on it.
I want to be able to gallop like Steve Harris.

Since you're a Sabbath fan, here's a challenge. Good for exercise.

Yeah. Eb. I was originally practicing it tuned down but decided to just go standard tuning because most of the tunes I'll play are in standard. War pigs looks fun. Lots of technique on that one! Watching another player play it was how I initially learned H&H as well. Steve Harris or Geddy is next on the hit list for me. Not sure which ones yet. Those are my 2 all time favorite Bass players/bands. Besides Dave Larue who won't be a part of this discussion.
