    RIP. As a kid I was always rejected everything that was 'old people music.' Not even The Beatles were immune (on the contrary, they bore the brunt of it, all I ever heard was the older stuff on the radio and that was the only band, and era thereof, that my dad liked), but Little Richard was somehow an exception to that.

    As a piano player, he provided the bridge from jump blues by artists like Louis Jordan and Wynonie Harris to rock and roll. A tremendous legacy. I guess that just leaves Jerry Lee Lewis as the last man standing from that seminal era.

    But thank you Mr. Penniman. You did good.

    He was a true rock and roll original and as leftysg said, a genuine influence. R.I.P. "Little" Richard Penniman.
