I am not able to get UI, and I have seen on the news there is money supposed to be available to help me out for a short while. Does anyone know how to get this subsidy in Ontario? I think the last I heard it was to be $2K per month.

wait ..... and then wait a bit longer

our mr T is still working out the details and a form to fill out at the EI site ...
should be ready in a couple of weeks
then it should only take a week or two to process the 1 million applicants ( so far) .
and another week or so to deliver the money for the next 16 weeks if you qualify .

you may qualify or not (for the full amount or not ) and the requirements are sure to change over the coming weeks ;)

A couple I know kinda 3rd hand and who own a few restaurants in Vancouver, are on the brink of financial ruin. All their staff laid off and no way to pay leases, etc.
Not much help available for them outside of family maybe.

So about the same as the lottery? I won $20 this week. Unfortunately I had $40 worth of tickets, and I bought 4 more for $20.

    you got it batman !

even the leader himself has no idea how to get it done in a reasonable time line.
the virtual signalling will continue as usual with excuses as needed.

They expect 4 million people to apply for CERB. EI could not handle the volume and I doubt this will either

Just like the lottery, if you don't apply you definitely won't get anything. Your choice. You don't apply, don't bitch.

I heard they're moving a shit load of people from CRA over to help handle this. This is from Mar. 25 Globe and Mail.
"Canadians will be able to apply online or through an automated telephone system, and should be able to get money within one or two days through electronic transfer, or up to 10 days by mail.

Senior officials at the Canada Revenue Agency said they are operating on the basis that three million Canadians will apply for the CERB during the first week, and that another million will apply during the second week, for a total of four million applications. The Globe and Mail is not identifying the senior officials because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthillier urged applicants to update their direct-deposit information with the CRA. She added the agency is exploring splitting the application process over two days once the program is launched to avoid clogging the system. One option being considered is that people born from January to June could apply on the first day, and that others could apply the following day."

The CRA already has our info. Just start sending cheques to people who did their taxes last year
