Ive got a set of epiphones version of vintage klusons - they work great but the snot green buttons are driving me nuts.

Has anyone changed tuner buttons on a epi?
Stewmac sells a lot of different buttons and I have no idea which ones would fit this guitar.
I would hate to destroy one getting it off and find out that I cant get a replacement!!

Are there screws on the top of the button?

I would replace the tuners and sell the ones you have. I am not sure about removing and reinstalling different "buttons".

Some gotoh pegs have replaceable buttons but they are screwed in from the top.

They are one piece, the plastic button cannot be removed easily but it can be tinted...that would be your only option other than a full replacement. Removal would require the shaft to be heated enough to soften the plastic, once removed it would be possible to epoxy replacements of your choice...not worth the hassle IMHO. Good selection of 10 mm tuners available on ebay for reasonable $$ if you can wait 4 weeks for them to arrive.

I wonder if they're overmolded or inserted with heat, threaded on...…

Might be a job getting them off, but I'm dealing with a lesser set of skills than the OP.

no threads....a slight tang on the shaft and press fitted or as you suggest possibly moulded on the shaft.

What about replacing the button along with the shaft it is molded / pressed onto? I mean taking the tuner housing off and removing the two components.

    Thanks guys.
I thought the green wasn’t so bad when I put them on but it’s starting to bug me.
I might just dye them black or sell the set & buy a nickel button set from nextgen.

Trying to not spend money, I’m home with my kids for the foreseeable future.
