Glad I saw him numerous times (including that famous/infamous VDOP show at the Commodore), just an incredible live player and performer. Greatly missed.
I find it crazy that the off duty cop killed the gunman with a shotgun while the gunman was holding a hostage. Didn't sound like he was the close either. How did the hostage not get hurt?
I noted that also. I think it was probably a slug round, or something like SSG with a real tight choke or something. He sounded like he was very confident of the shot.
A very sad day.
Of all the music I've been into, especially in this genre in particular, I've never given Dime Bag or Pantera a proper listen or chance for some reason. No real reason why neither, other than when they first came out I was into the NWOBM and older Hard Rock.
I think it's time to change that finally, so offer me up the 1 Pantera album I have to listen to.

You gotta get into (or past) Phil's voice - it is an acquired taste, IMO. But once around that, the band is superb. The Abbots grew up in a studio (their father was an engineer in Texas) and the production and tightness show. They were the top of the heap of metal bands for the whole decade of the 90s, no easy feat in a genre that moves that quickly and has so much incoming material.
If you get into that, I would then go either side of it - 'Cowboys From Hell' or 'Far Beyond Driven'. The live album, 'Official Live: 101 Proof' might be worth a try as well. They were an amazing live act.
Sounds like I have a couple of albums to check out. Thanks guys.
