It's best you find out as much information as you can and come to your own working definition. To me, a Tokai Reborn is vintage, but a Gibson Les Paul made the same year is not. Sort of based on some of the criteria that Mooh has outlined,... minus the laundry thing.
    Dave's not here man.

Don't be so quick to discount the laundry.

At a guitar show in Richmond Hill I saw a Fender lapsteel (6 string, brown, removable legs, tweed case) years after I had dealt it. It had changed hands at least a couple more times, but the current owner wouldn't sell it to me, as much as I wanted it back. He didn't believe I was a former owner until he found my name in the t-shirt used as padding around the legs in the case. Good old Tiger Brand t-shirt.

    Peace, Mooh.

this link is to a great site that has a LOT of information about vintage guitars.
the author explains a lot about why certain models are considered better than others and why they may be collectable.
of course there are lots of other sites out there too, but i think this one is a great starting point for anyone interested in learning about classic vintage guitars.
