It's best you find out as much information as you can and come to your own working definition. To me, a Tokai Reborn is vintage, but a Gibson Les Paul made the same year is not. Sort of based on some of the criteria that Mooh has outlined,... minus the laundry thing.

this link is to a great site that has a LOT of information about vintage guitars.
the author explains a lot about why certain models are considered better than others and why they may be collectable. of course there are lots of other sites out there too, but i think this one is a great starting point for anyone interested in learning about classic vintage guitars. http://www.provide.net/~cfh/ |
